Collector's Notes
This antique Caucasian rug was woven in the mid to late 19th century and features four electric medallions enclosing a hexagonal floral design with extending birds floating on a deep blue background. Interspersed are a variety of creatures, animals, geometric elements, and symbols. All are surrounded by two intricate flower blossom borders and an iconic border known as the 'leaf and wine glass' border which is depicted by serrated leaves and tendrils, here on a striking ivory border. Beautiful use of light and dark colors throughout this rug displays harmonious coloration that can bring a style pop to any space. Great accent rug or hanging wall art.
