Learn more about our museum quality rug washing process below
1.) We first start off with a full inspection of the rug and secure the ends or selvages, if needed.
2.) We then proceed with a vibration technique to relieve the rug of any deeply compacted soil, sand, or other matter. This protective technique is completed from the backside of the rug. After one pass, the piece is moved to the side. The stainless deck platform designed for this step is swept for compacted dirt residue including wool fibers. The vibration process is repeated until the deck platform is completely clean.
3.) The rug is then moved to a stainless steel wash platform. Here it is pre-washed pile side down. This wetting and brushing the back forces any microscopic dirt hiding deep down in the rugs foundation. As well, old detergent soaps (found in 98% of all rugs we have washed) will emerge as the pre-wash progresses.
4.) Based on the above of what we observe, we prepare an ideal sized individual soaking pool with an exact amount of a non detergent organic soap. The rug soaks overnight releasing all, if any, remaining dirt, soap, etc.
5.) The rug is hand brushed and rinsed to our satisfaction. Then the piece is hoisted up on a horizontal washing beam for a final rinse.
All performed by hand from our rug washing team with over 35+ years experience. We have noticed that the end result is a revived rug with colors that truly shine.
