One-of-a-kind, rare antique Kashan meditation rug. Sprouting up from a lower compartment containing scrolling arabesque vines in glowing red and camel. Two camel-ground trees of life, a profusion of stems bearing leaves and flowers, vivid red and turquoise. A third tree grows above them, filling the turquoise-outlined niche. The uppermost brand ends, seems to depict birds/duck heads with bills. The wool is kurk from baby lam, dense and lustrous.
Original condition, extreme fine knotting. Ten colors. Hand-washed. Circ 1880.
