7' X 3' Luri Long Rug [SH-356]

Luri antique long rug. Seven plant filled diamonds radiating along on white ground. Half diamonds protruding from the edges. The rich purple border that flows between and surrounds the half and full diamonds. Depicts continuous hook devices reminiscent of what is seen in Caucasian Chelaberd rugs. 

Plate 1 in John J Collins Jr. book Shiraz is a comparable hooked surrounding border. It also shows a triple repeating border of a different motif. Our border can be found in the Markarian album, Denny Walker, page 236, plate 78. Markarian says, look at that border. Colins, date plate 1 1870-18-90. Luri. Our example is in excellent condition, eight colors. Hand washed.
