  • 3'5" X 3'4" Antique Turkmen Tekke Rug [TAK0083]

    Collector's Notes

Antique Turkmen Tekke small rug. This antique small rug was woven in the Mid 19th Century by the Tekke artisans. This piece features a miniature version of the larger Tekke archetypal guls found in larger rugs in a 5x7 row arrangement on a multi-colored background. The borders hold the flower in a box motif used by Tekke sub-tribes. Both top and bottom elem panels (piled ends) exhibit repeating 'dyrnak gul' classic design that form radiating diamonds with inner bird head latch hooks. Possibly a dowry piece. Great floor rug or wall hanging.
