Antique Caucasian Kuba rug. This is a very rare and early example of an antique Kuba rug woven in the first half of the 19th Century. Features twin pairs of birds that form star-like gul clusters on aubergine-brown background. Interesting meandering flower inner border. 11 tribal animal motifs placed amongst the interspersed field elements. Great wall hanging art or worn accent floor rug.

Condition: Great condition considering age with even pile height. Areas of foundation showing from 100+ year old brown corrosion and wear. Original macrame ends. Rug was cut and shortened by a mere inch or two in the middle probably due to an old distress mark from war or travels. Fully secure sides and ends.
