



Antique small rug woven in the Shirvan region, Caucasus. A lovely and light sky blue ground features ivory octagonal lattice and chocolate brown wool stitching with cruciforms within the lattice are wiggly boteh/fish. Also containing a cross motif. The main border of diamonds, separated by a double-hooked hexagon and splayed tendrils or steel blue, is not common and noted as rare. The profusion of cruciform/crosses may point to an Armenian weaving. Original condition. Six colors.
