Antique Tekke Ensi. Mid 19th Century. Tree border and alternating ‘candelabra’ kush design. This piece is a predecessor to the more precise weavings of the latter period. 6 colors. 3’7 X 4’9. Very good condition considering age. Delicately hand washed. Note: The finely woven vertical ‘soldat' motif (tuning fork) that replace minor barber pole or simple solid line borders. This would suggest a distinct pattern of a Tekke Sub Tribe. An interesting early study piece. See 'Turkoman Tribal Rugs,' Werner Lodges, pg. 25, #5 Ensi.
