Collector's Notes
This antique Qashqai rug was woven in the mid to late 19th Century. It features three stepped hexagonal medallions that connect to make a totem-like tree design with an intricate abstract drawing within. Interspersed is an all-over garden scene with flowers, tendrils, and blossoms throughout floating on the abrashed blue background. Abrash is commonly seen in antique hand-knotted rugs and refers to the color variation of the wool used during the weaving process. The beautiful field design is surrounded by intricately drawn creatures amongst the blossoming plants on a striking ivory background. Greatly worn accent floor rug or hanging wall art.
