    3'2" X 4'6" Antique Caucasian Shirvan Prayer Rug [TAK0033]

    Collector's Notes

    This Shirvan rug features a white ground field and hexagonal lattice enclosing colorful small flower petals. Vibrant use of color throughout this piece with a row of tribal motifs down the right field axis. Note the field design continues above pentagonal mihrab. Deep blue minor border displays the impeccable workmanship of the weaver representing every color found in this rug throughout the stylized flowers. This piece is dated 1295, which indicates this rug was woven in the year 1879. Fine example of the Dagestan and Shirvan genre. Beautiful wall hanging. Very rare piece.
