  • Goklan Main Carpet Tribal [SH-383]

Goklan main carpet tribal, in lot no. 184, The Kaffel Collection. Mr. Kaffel notes that the rare horizontal reciprocal dotted-arrowhead motif is found rarely as a guard border. But only one carpet depicts its use as a main border, his lot 184.

Here we show a second. A close comparison also shows that both rugs' borders are identical. Our gol motif shows the mentioned dyrnak gol woven in three offset rows. The handle of this rug is fine and thin. In original condition with kilim ends. Selvedge sides are worn away. Our rug shows distinct corrosion patterns that flow around the dyrnak gols. Seven colors, with one a strong green, in the early 19th century.
