Collector's Notes
This antique Caucasian long rug runner was woven in the mid 19th Century. It features six alternating blue and white checkered diamond motif with radiating bird head ornaments. Interspersed are a variety of design elements including stars and cross patterns. All surrounded by a captivating flower and cross palmette border with what appears as birds perched on striped tendrils on a stunning ivory background. This border is also referred to as the iconic 'crab border'. Saturated bright coloration. Beautifully lightly worn accent rug or as hanging wall art. Rare piece.
