This antique Caucasian long rug runner was woven in the mid 19th Century. It features six alternating blue and white checkered diamond motif with radiating bird head ornaments. Interspersed are a variety of design elements including stars and cross patterns. All surrounded by a captivating flower and cross palmette border with what appears as birds perched on striped tendrils on a stunning ivory background. This border is also referred to as the iconic 'crab border'. Saturated bright coloration. Beautifully distressed accent rug or as hanging wall art. Rare piece.
