    Collector's Notes

This rare antique Caucasian Shirvan rug was woven in the late 19th Century and features an unusually fine weave of eight 'Akstafa' like bird medallions intricately decorated floating on a dark brown background. Interspersed are a variety of design ornaments including people, animals, tribal amulets and geometric shapes. All surrounded by a leaf and calyx style (wine glass) border.

With its perfectly worn-in charm, bold use of color and edgy design elements, this antique Caucasian Shirvan rug will create a bright vibrance and take on a curated look that feels timeless while creating a modern design aesthetic. Note: Shirvan rugs are among the most collectible rugs in the world. Great floor rug or even as hanging wall art.
