    Baluch Prayer Rug [SH-179]

    Baluch Prayer Rug, northeast Persia, Torbat-e Heydarieh. A willow tree with staggered branches grows on a lustrous silky camel ground. Abrashed ashik guls flank diamond with a hooked bird head and Ersari dragon on pole middle sides, top, and bottom. A pair of reciprocal trefoil medakhyl border, dice, step bird head with eyes. The main diamond step towards the field terminating at fine linked diamonds and a fine inner bead minor border. Purple striped weft float kilims each end in mint condition. Seven colors glisten on this full pile abrashed. That is a fine tribal example. Circa 1880. Our museum's quality hand-washed process lets the viewer visually in.
